Google AdWords – Starter Edition

June 11th, 2006 · No Comments

Google AdWords has a new feature for beginners. If you’re not really used to configuring the intricate details of your ad campaign yet, you can start with the basics. And this is just what Starter Edition is.

On first sign-up, AdWords will prompt you to choose between Starter and Standard editions, and the sign-up site will tell you that Starter only allows for a single ad and a single campaign, but this can always be changed later on.

The Starter edition is excellent for first time AdWords users, and will let you experiment with an ad campaign without the intricacies of setting up the usual multiple campaigns and the advanced keyword targetting functions.

What are the disadvantages?

Of course Starter Edition is the “limited functionality” edition of AdWords, so you can expect limitations. Basically you cannot put up image ads. Nor can you target your ads specificially to certain websites only (if you’re putting up ads not only for Google search results). But remember that your account can always be “upgraded” to standard edition anytime.
